This means I'm presented with a window with maybe fifty generic (all the same) thumbnail icons. If I change the Files Type from Common Graphic to All Files (*.*) I see generic thumbnail icons for each CR2 - but I don't see the actual image thumbnail in the "Open" folder window. If you change that from Common Graphic files to All files (*.*), then you should see all files including the CR2 files. When you open IrfanView directly and go to a CR2 containing folder, do you mean that the CR2 files don't show in the Open dialog box? If Load Custom is selected, it uses the list of vertical bar separated extensions in the text box below. There are a couple of radio buttons underneath: Load only associated file types while moving through directory and Load Custome file types. It would appear that I correctly installed the Canon Plugin - in that once the image thumbnail is selected from the Thumbnail viewer, IrfanView has no trouble opening and displaying the file. But running IrfanView directly all the thumbnails are blank images (if File Types = CR2) or no thumbnails (if File Types = Common Graphic). There has got to be something missing in that if the image/thumbnail is selected from the Thumbnail viewer first, it works just fine. If I change the Files of Type to Canon Raw - the program presents all the CR2 files with the "Cat" icon - no thumbnail image - all the same with the "Cat" and the Image file name. This is with the "Files of Type" set to Common Graphic Files. What is strange is that IrfanView works just fine if the image is selected from the "IrfanView ThumbNail" viewer first - it opens the main IrfanView program window with the CR2 image displayed.īut if I start IrfanView, select the Open File, go to the same picture folder that I used in the ThumbNail viewer, no images are shown.
